The Blur

i've needed glasses and/or contacts since the age of six. without them, i'm pretty useless beyond 4 feet. i'm a visual creature. i live and breathe through my eyes. and i really wish i had better "unassisted" vision. but at the same time, i've kind of fallen in love with the blur. the soft mystery of the world when my eyes are bare. the way the light seems to take on an ethereal quality and just bleed into objects and forms. an ocean of soft shapes and bokeh and liquid light. how could that be bad? (i mean unless you're driving of course ;)  sometimes my broken eyes remind me of the light effects i can achieve with polaroid. and sometimes the blur just feels more natural.

there really is something about blurry images- it turns everything into magic or dream or memory or hope or fantasy, or a whole assortment of things that mean so much more than today, and now, and this mundane reality.

(kind of like words when whispered take on such an immediacy)

well done.

I'm in your same shoes. Isn't it weird how you sometimes have to take off your glasses in order to really see?

past 1-1/2 to 2 feet, I can see for miles {not to quote a line from a particular song}, but am like you up till then. you have a different kind of vision that few have, or will ever achieve... you "see" just fine, miss lauren.

...on hurricane watch :-\

...sometimes you have to close your eyes to what you see in order to see things.

Sorry Lauren i posted a comment, on summer sea, but i mend for the Blur, as follows,Hi, Lauren i like the blur on your pictures, its a bit tricky using a blur.!! in your case its wel done, because the overall settings when taking a picture must be right to use a blur. and you did.
So my complements to you i love it.
By the way i like the set up of your new Blog.

Most Regards, Johnny Collewijn

I've never imagined such passion, but with your explanation and pictures, i can clearly see [ironic uh?!] that it's true.

Thanks for sharing that.

The thing about light, with the right blur, is that the way it appears to wrap around an object gives it an exciting sentience, as if it were alive and sensual and caressing everything in the room.

We're in the same boat -- my eyes went well south early on, and I hate the idea of being so dependent on visual fluency even while I'm so handicapped there.

Had not considered the beauty of blur, that's such a compelling point.
